I headed over to Martuni's to sing a few songs during the cocktail hour open mic with the amazing Joe Wicht on the 88's! He is incredible and the singers that showed up were fabulous! I sang "Meadowlark" by Stephen Schwartz and two songs from the Broadway musical If/Then that I'll perform at my February 18th show at Martuni's. Fun times!
My goodness! Tonight was so much fun! Ben Prince was amazing as always on the piano and there were so many, many talented singers here from SF, San Diego, NYC and DC! Everyone was on point tonight! I sang a bunch of songs including Unexpected Song, I've Got A Crush on You, Love Changes Everything, Then You Look At Me, Always Starting Over, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and closed down the night with a Let it Go impromptu sing-a-long! Fun times! Singing is the best :-)
I had a nice time singing a song from the Broadway musical It/Then (Always Starting Over) with the amazing Barry Lloyd on piano and Bill Cooper as MC. There were several very talented and engaging singers there including Crystal Miller - this lady has an incredibly beautiful voice! Wow! I am looking forward to her March 25th show in the East Bay! Let me know if you want to join me for what is sure to be an amazing show!
Wow! I hadn't been to Tuesday's weekly open mic with Alan Choy on piano and Dena Rao as MC. It was so much fun! I will be back! I loved listening to regulars Courtney, Ryan, Jesse, Nikki, Keith and Dena as well as many newcomers who were excellent. MC Dena has an incredible voice! I had fun singing an Andrew Lloyd Webber classic, a Celine Dion song from an obscure movie (no, not that one!), a reflective song from the Broadway musical If/Then that starred Idina Menzel and a few Whitney Houston power ballads. What a fun night!
I popped in here around 9:30 pm to sing a few songs. I met so many wonderful regulars (Jesse, Jason, Jappy and the guy with the most beautiful tone in his voice, Tom?) I loved meeting new friends, like the two SF couples who are my newest fans - Rosita and her husband and the English couple with them as well as the Barbra Streisand crowd! Ben was fabulous on piano as always! I sang a lot of songs including It's All Coming Back to Me Now, Always Starting Over, One Moment in Time, Love Changes Everything, I Will Always Love You, Woman in Love and Dreams by Fleetwood Mac (the last two were requested by folks in the audience). Super fun time!
Popped into Martuni's earlier this evening when Joe Wicht was on the 88's and had fun singing a Whitney Houston power ballad as well as a surprise duet with my friend Bruce Phillips (Suddenly Seymour)! Stayed long enough to sing a popular Disney song with my favorite Joseph Magdalena on the keys. Thanks, Gary, for being a great sport and heading over there with me! It's always fabulous to see and listen to Courtney! That man can sing and win over any room!!
Sunday nights are so much fun! First of all, there were about 15 incredible singers here tonight, lots of pros and some awesome amateurs! It's always a blast singing to a full house packed with singers! We had a bunch of sing-alongs and I made so many new friends! I had fun singing some Andrew Lloyd Webber, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston songs and now am learning several duets to sing with talented baritones and tenors. Fun times! Come on out one Sunday and grab a martini and a mic and sing your heart out and/or listen to talented performers.
I had a fabulous time singing Then You Look at Me, Let it Go, Unexpected Song, One Moment in Time and Always Starting Over for a fun, Friday cocktail hour crowd. Ben Prince, as always, is incredible on piano! This man can play anything and everything! There were a lot of good singers there and I had so much fun meeting new people from SF, Orange County and Miami and sharing postcards to promote my February 18th show!
Wow! What a great Martuni's Monday! The unusually slow start turned out to be a blessing! I had the chance to record three new videos that are now up on my videos page. Thanks to my friend Jordan for manning the iPhone and taking great videos of me singing "Maybe This Time", "One Moment in Time", and "God Bless the Child". I also sang several other songs throughout the night. I feel very grateful for having the opportunity to share music with such a wonderful community.
Sunday is a great night to head to Martuni's to try out new songs! Ben is on piano and he knows every song every written! It's really impressive! I sang 6 songs throughout the evening and have a video clip posted on my Facebook page, www.facebook.com/vocalvelvet
